Es sorprendente que la fe siga siendo una de las columnas centrales de la ideología y del comportamiento humano en nuestra época, a tal grado que su aplicación ha generado a cambio de bondad y rectitud, enfrentamientos insalvables con saldos macabros que van desde el despojo de bienes al exterminio y la guerra. La fe excluyente, intolerante y dogmática, no se renueva, incapaz de responder a la realidad, no puede validar los cambios morales que exige una visión mas clara de la naturaleza humana.
El papel de la religión en la sociedad ha sido importante en el establecimiento de las jerarquías y es preocupante que así sea, es decir que gran parte de la estructura social se haya construido sobre los mitos y peor aún que el sentido de responsabilidad sea reemplazado por el temor al castigo eterno.
En NATURALEZA MUERTA el uso del pescado seco y del oro marcan metafóricamente junto al símbolo cristiano del pez, la inoperancia de una doctrina que muerta, paradójicamente en su institucionalidad goza de gran poder y ostentación.

It’s surprising that faith continues to be one of the pillars of ideology and of human behavior in our era, to the degree that, rather than mercy and righteousness, its application has resulted in insurmountable confrontations with macabre results that range from the spoliation of goods to extermination and war. An exclusive, intolerant, and dogmatic faith that does not renew itself and is incapable of responding to reality cannot validate the moral changes that demand a clearer vision of human nature.
The role of religion in society has been key to the establishment of hierarchies, and this is troubling, given that that a large part of social structure was founded on myths, and worse yet, that a sense of responsibility was replaced by fear of eternal punishment.
In Still Life, the use of dried fish and gold act as a metaphor, together with the Christian symbol of the fish, for the ineffectiveness of a doctrine that, though dead, enjoys great power and ostentation in its institutionality.
